Sometimes I write checks into founders building in regulated industries — the spaces where most investors get nervous and most lawyers say "it's complicated."

I'm especially interested in: Healthtech. AI/ML. Frontier Technologies. Anything where the regulatory landscape is complex enough to be a competitive advantage if you navigate it right.

What I look for: Founders who are building something they genuinely believe in. A business model that makes sense (or will, once we figure out the regulatory piece). Willingness to actually use me as a resource rather than googling legal questions—basically, I'm not a passive investor. And sadly, if you’re a little too chronically online instead of focusing on building it, it will probably be a pass. I’ve learned that lesson the HARD way. Sorry :(

What you get: A check, yes. But also: 15+ years of legal, regulatory experience, actual operating knowledge, intros to people who matter and won’t do bizarre stuff, someone who will pick up the phone when things get weird, and you get stalkers or blackmailers because you’re winning and they’re not. I'm not here to be a logo on your deck. I'm here to help you win.

Check size: I dunno. It depends.

How to pitch me: Email me. Keep it short. Tell me what you're building, why it matters, and why the regulatory complexity is a feature, not a bug. I don’t stand in lines for food ergo I don’t chase founders to get on cap tables because that is just sad and despy for an adult.
